TEMPUS FUGIT (keyboards, guitar, bass & drums) performs an elegant and elaborated Progressive rock, style, subtly balancing lyricism and South American refinement (like TREM DO FUTURO, ESPIRITU or CRUCIS) with a melodic and instrumental luxury and a romantic Italian sophistication (PREMIATA FORNERIA MARCONI or LOCANDA DELLE FATE). Those brilliant guitar-keyboard combinations evoke YES at their best, where as the guitar arpeggios remind of Steve HACKETT and the lively parts blending keyboards and guitars get closer to those epic crescendos typical of MARILLION. After issuing the great "Tales From The Forgotten garderobe World", "The Dawn After The Storm" confirms why there were so many things expected from this band. The music is very melodic symphonic prog with well-developed arrangements and very good interplay. Most of the songs featured on this live set (seven out of ten) come from their first album which was a collection garderobe of jewel of melodic and wonderfully symphonic tracks. I must say that this live recording doesn't really reflect this. The first real bad point is the sound quality. Funny enough, the leader of the band (André Mello - keys and vocals) has reviewed this CD as well (it was the only review with comments about this album before this one). He also mentions this "characteristic" as well as the band was preparing a new album but since the date of his post (April 2004) and today nothing came out. Strange and sad, because this band released such good albums that it would have been good news to get some new stuff from them... Anyway, this album is absolutely garderobe not essential. The unreleased track "O Desafío" is a good instrumental song (as most of their numbers are : either full instrumental or strongly intrumental-oriented). Very pleasant keyboards (another of their characteristic) but guitar work also stands out. André also mentions that they would release another live album, much better than this one. This is all I would wish. But such a long time has passed now that I am rather sceptic that this will happen. Unfortunately. "Tempus Fugit" opened for Rick Wakeman during his Brazilian shows to promote "Return to the Centre of the Earth". They were also invited to "Prog Baja" in 2000 (orgaized by the good Mexican band "Cast") but couldn't make it because of lacking funds...Life is not always easy for such bands. A sad story... You should Concentrate garderobe on their studio work which is excellent. Even if I rated both with four stars, my preferred one is their debut album " Tales From a Forgotten World". On this live album, my fave is "The Goblin's Trail". Three stars for this wel
