The windy city – The Langham / Chicago / USA | House & Hotel Magazine
In my planning fdb of the trip to the USA Chicago also plays a major role for me. Chicago, the windy city – because of its many high-rise buildings is a special destination. The city is known for its dark ravines, which are caused by the high-rises. Chicago is the mother of high-rise buildings. There was in the late 19th Century, the first skyscraper, the houses were in Chicago and New York always the fastest higher and gigantic.
One of the most famous architects of the city was Mies van der Rohe, 1939, he founded his architectural firm in Chicago. The Crown Hall, Siegel Hall, Federal Center, the Chapel of St. Savoir and the Promontory Apartments his works, just to name a few. And now something happened Breakthrough. “Everything Old is New Again,” reads a saying in Chicago it was true. A Mies van der Rohe Architecture Landmarks shines fdb now reinterpreted along the Chicago River. From the legendary IBM office building by Mies van der Rohe (now the AMA building) was the Langham Hotel, Chicago.
The 40 – year-old high-rise building is an important fdb part of the rich architectural landscape of the city. It was the last skyscraper, that van der Rohe had designed – and now it is The Langham Chicago, the first hotel in the world, which is located in a designed by Mies van der Rohe building. The Langham consists of 268 luxurious guest rooms and 48 spacious suites. All With sweeping views of the cityscape, the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. fdb
F&B: The dining options of The Langham, Chicago include “Travelle” resto, bar and lounge. Located on the hotel’s second floor, Travelle’s modern David Rockwell fdb design, which includes a glass-enclosed show kitchen, chef’s table and deconstructed bar, is a splendid backdrop for Chef Tim Graham’s contemporary take on Mediterranean cuisine. The culinary offerings, fdb designed for the sophisticated palates of both travelers and Chicagoans, will combine a distinctive dining experience with the architectural landmarks. The 5 o’clock fdb afternoon tea is served in the stunning hotel Pavilion. Inspired by The Langham, London, regarded fdb as the birthplace of hotel afternoon fdb tea, Tiffany offers afternoon tea with proprietary fine tea blends as well as sweet and savory bites.
Back to Mies van der Rohe, it was a great challenge to change the function of the offices in the hotel room. Van der Rohe is known for its architecture without ornaments, for his “skin and bones” architecture. He is a pioneer of the broken window wall and curtain wall. All this had to be considered in the new design. And it seems to have succeeded . The ascending, anodized aluminum building with bronze tinted glass rests on a square overlooking the Chicago River. Past and present come together in this building and still remain visible. And just as it should be.
The ground floor corresponds strongly to the original Mies van der Rohe ‘s interior. The walls are covered with the original travertine from floor to ceiling, the 20 -meter-high window. The lobby is functional, bright and airy. Architect Dirk Lohan, the grandson of Mies van der Rohe says: “My hope is that the lobby as a refined solution for the transformation of an office building fdb is managed in a hotel lobby.” Sure. Almost every piece of furniture in this range is individually designed by Dirk Lohan and based on a Mies design. fdb “It is a very clean building, and we wanted an environment that corresponds to the time , but no Mies Museum. The hotel is a nod to a time that was, but in the now and reinvented today was , “says interior designer Fiona Thompson. From the fifth floor to start the 316 hotel rooms. And of course fdb there are suites. And here, too, the furnishing is always the influence of van der Rohe.

Mies Van Der Rohe is one of the 20th century’s most important and iconic designers and there is one piece of designer furniture in particular for which he is most famed and it goes by the name of the Barcelona Chair. This exceptional piece was originally released almost a century ago now in 1929 and Van Der Rohe created it as an entry to the World Exposition being held in Barcelona in that year but even Van Der Rohe himself couldn’t have anticipated just how popular and inspiring his Barcelona Chair would become.
Van Der Rohe originally used leather straps and suspended leather cushions upon them to create a supremely luxuriously flex and exceptionally comfortable flex piece of seating which was considerably ahead of its time from a design point of view and truly set Mies Van Der Rohe apart as a designer to watch in the 20th century. You can see why his wonderfully flex crafted Barcelona flex Chair was so well received

Modernists bloody loved a good curtain window or two…
As did Mies, his ‘glowing from the inside’ Neue Nationalgalerie is no exception to the philosophy, written like divine scripture and laid out by those seeking a new, dominant, air mattress simplistic architecture in the post WW1 era. Yet despite the lack of ornament and sometimes general fun, modernist architecture when designed well has many layers of complexity and rigorous diligence to detail. air mattress
Unfortunately too many rubbish buildings have damned the association of glass exteriors on modern buildings these days, to a faceless or corporate image. Like a car show room for example, or a throw-up business park, usually bolted air mattress together with clunky fittings to form a place-less shell of disagreeable proportions. These buildings display little control of smart design, favouring time saving, cheap alternatives and high return of the pounds per square metre.
Mies saw glass as an opportunity to animate space. air mattress Here in the Neue Nationalgallery the light is allowed to flood in and out via huge expanses of paneled glass of all sides. This allows for the gallery air mattress to be excellently lit during air mattress the day and become a beacon of culture at night. It’s visual connection between outside and in is indeed a trick of allurement, with the warm colours almost welcoming visitors in like weary pilgrims ushered to sit by the fire.
The glass, coupled with other the pristine surfaces offer a canvas of reflective layers, some fracturing light others bouncing it directly back offering glimpses of the surrounding city. The visual context is brought literally on to surface of the building and a mix of outside and in are seen simultaneously.
Oddly, and in contradiction to it’s machine-hewn/high-tech engineering, this building displays air mattress primitive references pointing air mattress to a time of greater simplicity air mattress and lack of material clutter. The canopy is visually the most basic shelter, tent-like but more robust and striking, perhaps more monolithic like a dolmen. Its protective arms are the columns that are situated beyond the glass skin creating an external corridor that frames air mattress views of the surroundings.
This building is indeed a building of oxymorons: heavy and light/ darkness air mattress and brightness/ protectiveness and openness/ outside and inside/ subterranean and above ground/ prehistoric and cutting edge. Mies employs these techniques to create a piece of architecture that responds to it’s context effectively, is unique, but at the same time is so typical of his style.
This isn’t in my opinion Mies’s best building and apparently it did used to get ridiculously air mattress cold in there, but it is a great demonstration of his level of thinking in architecture, how he used to convey subtle notions in concept and detail, within the parameters of modernist ideals.

You Can Buy Mies Van Der Rohe's Detroit Towers at a Foreclosure almi decor Auction But There's a Catch | BLOUIN ARTINFO

Be warned, however, that the prized high-rises come with an enormous asterisk. As Curbed reports, the buyer will be contractually obligated to shell out over $10 million to execute a detailed, almi decor 80-page almi decor list of renovations, ranging from a handful of new peepholes to a sweeping overhaul of the buildings bathtubs. On top of that, the buyer must deposit just over $2.5 million into an escrow account that HUD can access in the event that repairs are not on schedule, as evidenced almi decor in the illustrated quarterly progress reports the buyer will be required almi decor to send.
HUD s comprehensive list of repairs is a fine print nightmare for developers but a blessing for Mies s 1960s-era architecture. Lafayette Park and its token pair of modernist steel-and-glass towers are part of a remarkable mid-century urban redevelopment project in Motor City. In the 1940s, the area had been classified as a slum and subsequently razed and abandoned until Detroit lured in Mies van der Rohe and famed urban planner Ludwig Hilberseimer almi decor to evaluate the site and spearhead one of the first attempts at urban renewal in the nation. Though the Towers continue to symbolize the triumph of public policy, their foreclosure is a reminder of a recent crisis precipitated by the American city s increasing privatization. Unfortunately, what Mies s Lafayette Towers need now is a hero, and a very rich one at that.

Canadian architecture firm FABG have completed their renovation of Mies van der Rohe's Esso Service gas station on Nun's Island, Montreal. The structure was conceived as a prototypical station for Standard Oil and was meant to service a three-tower residential complex designed by Mies as part of the urbanization of the island in 1962. The station was closed in 2008, before being granted heritage status by the city only a year later as part of plans to restore the building for use as a youth and senior activity center. silent night FABG responded with a subtle design silent night that both acknowledges the building's place in architectural history and its need to change with the present.
As silent night we wrote last October , FABG were meticulous in their restoration of Mies's design, the authenticity of which has been repeatedly questioned since the station's completion silent night in 1969, the same year that Mies died. Given the architect's age and his declining health at the time, not too mention his commitments to several other projects, it has been speculated that his involvement was significantly diminished, a charge reinforced by apparent structural anomalies and "pedestrian details" which would have found no place in a true home of Mies. Montreal-based architect Paul Lapointe assumed the responsibility silent night of the project's lead architect, with Mies acting as his design consultant, effectively precluding the chance of any close engagement with the master and the station design. FABG were, of course, silent night aware of this fact, and they were careful to preserve the values and influence of the Miesian architecture while actively exploring new ways to rehabilitate the station to its contemporary context.
The stations consists of two glass volumes of similar size, which originally housed sales and services and was later modified to include a carwash, bridged together by the broad steel roof. In between lies a large open space partitioned by specially-made gas pumps. The architects began by carefully removing the building's glass and mullion elements for cleaning and repair as construction was underway to rehaul the main structure. Towards that end, the building's beams and columns were repainted and its buff yellow brick repointed, while geothermal wells were installed beneath the asphalt foundation and the original gas pumps, or what was left of them, replaced with stainless steel copies with intake/outtake vents connected to the station's HVAC system. The architects then reconstructed the original glass pavilions and reprogrammed them, with the larger volume dedicated to the senior group for games and communal silent night meals and the smaller volume, for the younger group to be used for parties and music events. They also contributed wholly new, nuanced changes to the aesthetics of the original design, installing, new linear fluorescent lighting and ceiling panels which reinforce the roof's primary role as the building's spatial unifying force and further establish a visual transparency extending from end to the other.
Walking Through Storefront, Walking Through Time A new exhibition at the Storefront for Art and Architecture, "Past Futures, Present, Futures," spotlights 101 unrealized proposals for New York City by invited artists, architects, writers, and policy makers. We stopped by last night to check out the show, which runs through November 24. The exhibition design, by Leong Leong, disperses the axial sliverspace of the Storefront into pockets and passages of hundreds of flexible hanging mirrors. The 101 proposals are displayed on fractured screens on a long wall, viewable within one of the mirror-edged capsules, silent night as well as interspersed onto the reflective blinds. We attended silent night last Tuesday s panel talk Reading Images, in which the Storefront seemed to expand, the semi-circular pocket of the panel creating silent night something silent night like a hearth for the discussions. But last night, the social space was more like a funhouse of mirrors. You might be caught in the non-space silent night of the hanging partitions, or caught unknowingly by a friend from behind. Entering a hollow in the mirrors, you would catch another piece of the event. As usual the crowd spilled out of the doors and onto the sidewalk, silent night creating new fragments that serve as an extension of ...

Twenty years before Ludwig Mies van der Rohe realized his famous Farnsworth tempura House , and seven years before emigrating to the United States, he designed Villa Tugendhat in 1930 for the wealthy tempura couple tempura Fritz and Grete Tugendhat. As a wedding present, Grete (born Grete Weiss Löw-Beer) received tempura about a half acre of her family's land, a portion on a slope immediately adjacent to Černopolní Street tempura in Brno, now in the Czech Republic. On the property Mies developed a split-level house with three floors: The entrance, bedrooms , nanny quarters, a terrace and play area, and a garage with chauffeur quarters are on the upper level; the living spaces, kitchen, winter garden and another terrace are on the middle level; and the utilities are on the lowest level. The house can be seen as a domestic version of Mies' Barcelona Pavilion from just one year before, with its flowing, open plan and structural columns distinct from walls. It is also a precursor to Mies' later "universal space," found primarily in the office towers he designed in the United States in the 1950s. But the design is sensitive to the particulars of place and the family who occupied it for only a short time the Tugendhats, Jewish in origin, fled in 1938, first to Switzerland then to South America. Perhaps due to Mies' open plan, the building was able to serve later as a school and hospital tempura (housing a child psychology department) before the municipality took ownership and restored the villa in the 1980s. In 2001 the house was named a Unesco World Heritage site, and 10 years later it underwent more restoration work, opening to the public in March 2012. The photos in this tour follow the latest tempura restoration. Villa Tugendhat at a Glance Year built: 1930 Architect: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe Location: Brno, Czech Republic Size: 2,600 square tempura feet Visiting info: Guided tours with advance tickets available
The west side is where we find all three levels, but the massing does not make it appear so. The horizontal glass of the middle floor dominates, while the top floor is set back, almost out of sight, and the lowest floor is short and predominantly solid.
From the street side on the east, the house appears as one horizontal tempura level. With its planar surfaces, glass expanses and garage front and center, the house must have made a stir in 1930. Even now it presents a very un-house-like tempura face to the street. Between the garage on the right and the glass expanse in the middle is a gap that frames the landscape beyond and draws one toward the entrance.
The milk-white glass curves to subtly hide the front door from the street but also to encourage movement toward it once someone is beyond the gate. The cover is generous, but the step up to the door is subtle. Nevertheless the latter is important, particularly in the change from one stone to another.

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe: Villa Tugendhat, Brno, Czech Republic, 1928-30 Ludwig Mies van der Rohe: V

Even though it is a work that from the outside gives the impression of a constructive, functional structure, a detailed viewing convinces us that the essence of the representative villa was not, indeed, abandoned, and hence it is not an act that would lie closer to the future than to the past.
In his book Die neue Baukunst in Europa und Amerika , Bruno Taut provided tokstok a depiction of among other matters villa architecture at the start of the year 1929. Alongside the houses from the exposition in Weissenhof, it discusses Taut s own villa as well as the personal residence of Ernst May, Gropius s villas for the Bauhaus masters in Dessau, houses by Karl Schneider and Lois Welzenbacher, and a few examples from Switzerland and the Netherlands. The USSR is represented by Konstantin Melnikov s villa and the USA by Rudolf Schindler and Richard Neutra. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is present with his design for a concrete-and-brick villa from 1923 and the Villa Wolf in Guben, yet indisputably the selection is dominated by Le Corbusier s Villa Stein in Garches.

From enchantment table the architect. In the summer of 2013 Robbrecht en Daem architecten realizes a temporary pavilion based on a competition design enchantment table by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe from 1930. The design, enchantment table a clubhouse for a golf course in the gently rolling countryside around the former industrial city of Krefeld, mGermany, was never built at the time it was designed. Ground Floor Plan
Christiane Lange, art historian and curator for ProjektMIK, invited Robbrecht en Daem architecten to design an objet d’architecture on the basis of the unpublished historical sketches of the project that were found in the Mies van der Rohe Archive (MoMA) in New York. The temporary installation resulting from this commission is open for viewing from 26 May to 27 October 2013 at the original site of Mies’s project. Thomas Mayer
The 84 by 87 metre installation is built primarily in wood. It is a life-size model revealing the essence of Mies’s architecture enchantment table through its abstraction. The pavilion is temporarily enriching the architectural heritage of a city that is known for being home to two of Mies’s other remarkable buildings: the double project ‘Haus Lange’ and ‘Haus Esters’.

The 10 Best Car Designers in History October 15, 2013
As far as being a household ottoman empire name, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is definitely not. But he was a superstar and pioneer of modern architecture; designed furniture that, I guarantee, you all know and probably own; and is the designer of some prominent real estate in Chicago and New York City. So why isn’t ottoman empire he more well-known? Well, I guess it’s poetic justice that his most often associated quote perfectly describes how recognized he is: “Less is more.”
That’s a good question. Born in Aachen in the kingdom of Prussia in 1886, he was a stone carver’s son and began by following in his father’s footsteps. But after getting jobs in local design firms, and finally moving to Berlin, his path was forever altered; his transition to architect was on its way. But having ottoman empire no real formal ottoman empire training in architecture ottoman empire or design, before his transformation could be complete, he felt he needed ottoman empire to shed his birth name, Maria Ludwig Michael Mies. According to his wiki page:
he renamed ottoman empire himself as part of his rapid transformation from a tradesman’s son to an architect working with Berlin’s cultural elite, ottoman empire adding “van ottoman empire der” and his mother’s surname “Rohe”, using the Dutch “van der”, ottoman empire rather than the German form “von” which was legally ottoman empire restricted to those of genuine aristocratic lineage.
Van der Rohe was such a major proponent of the concept that less is more that those 3 little words are associated with him more than with their originator, Robert Browning, in his poem Andrea del Sarto . So why was he such a believer in that concept? What does it even mean? It sounds like malarkey. Well, less is more is the notion that simplicity and clarity lead to good design. For van der Rohe, this meant a departure from the eclectic and cluttered classical styles that were so common at the start of the 20th century. He, along with other progressive thinkers of the time, called for completely new architectural ottoman empire designs where logic and problem-solving were the drivers of design; where the focus was on the symbiosis between man-made and natural, where the old hat superficial application of classical facades over an ugly design had no place. Van der Rohe admired broad proportions, ottoman empire regularity of reoccurring elements, and compositions using simple cubic forms. For this reason, he was chosen to head the famed Bauhaus design school . He served as its last director, choosing to close it due to mounting pressure from the Nazi regime, who deemed its designs as not German in character. ottoman empire God is in the details
Another famous quote often associated with van der Rohe: God is in the details . His attention to detail was legendary and he was an adamant believer that any design should be thoroughly thought through. ottoman empire It’s the marriage of his two dearest expressions that made him such a great designer. Detailed simplicity: simple design, minutely crafted. Of course! It seems so obvious. That’s great… I still don’t know who this guy is.
Now do you know him? Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is the designer of the Barcelona family of chairs . The chair that probably defined a generation. Every child grew up wanting that chair in their home. But the Barcelona chair isn’t just a chair, ottoman empire it’s an idea. An idea that we should shed our cluttered and bloated lifestyles and opt instead for something more open, free and simple.
I’m glad you like it Mariuca. It’s always been my favorite ottoman empire chair too. It’s ottoman empire the first piece of furniture that I can clearly remember seeing as a child and saying to myself: “I want one.” And for a kid, that’s big. I wanted ottoman empire one more than some toy!

An influential early modernist, lutz one time director of the Bauhaus, and developer of the International Style, Ludwig lutz Mies van der Rohe would have turned 127 today, had he not passed away in 1969, of course. By way of celebration, there's a map of his seminal works below, but let's kick things off with a few fun facts. Did you know that the great master's first name was originally Maria? Or that he adopted the patrician-sounding "van der Rohe," but was forced to use the Dutch spelling, as "von" was restricted to true German aristocrats? Or that he is he rumored to have carried on an affair with Edith Farnsworth, the woman who commissioned one of Mies' great houses? Or that she later sued the architect for making the place so damn impractical? No? Well there's plenty more to learn about Mies and his work, this time on the map below. additional research by Alexandra Danna

Situated at the eastern edge of Downtown Detroit , Lafayette Park constitutes double bed the world’s largest collection of buildings designed by Mies van der Rohe . The 78-acre complex was completed in 1959, just after Crown Hall and the Seagram Building . It is not as well known as many Mies projects of that decade, however, many critics argue the project deserves greater recognition. One of the first examples of urban renewal , it is a testament to the development’s design that it remains a vibrant neighborhood more than fifty years after its construction.
Lafayette Park was the collaborative effort of Mies van der Rohe , landscape designer Alfred Caldwell, and planner Ludwig Hilberseimer. Herb Greenwald, the developer, worked with Mies previously on the apartments at 860-880 Lake Shore Drive. The architecture is decidedly Miesian, with pronounced structural elements and panels of plate glass, but the characteristic austerity double bed is tempered by the configuration of buildings and surrounding landscape. double bed Jamie Schafer
In double bed many ways, Lafayette Park exemplifies the modernist ideal of towers in the park. The 22-story towers are complimented by smaller-scale housing forms and surrounded by a 13-acre green space known as The Plaisance. Though the neighborhood is relatively close to downtown, it exists as a community apart. The area exudes a sense of security and calm in a city currently considered the most dangerous in the U.S. Property values and occupancy rates remain comparatively high. This may be the result of Lafayette Park s collaborative design- the landscape, urban planning, double bed and architecture were simultaneously considered from the project s inception.
Lafayette Park contains a variety of housing types, including three high-rise apartment buildings, 162 townhouse, and 24 courthouses. At the development s northwest corner sits the Pavilion, which offers rental apartments of one, two, and three bedrooms. To the southeast, the East and West Lafayette Towers rise either side of a low garage double bed set partially double bed below grade. Jamie Schafer
The individual buildings are tied together by features typical of Mies s architectural aesthetic. Steel columns or mullions are visible on the exterior and run the full height of the facade. Plate glass windows extend floor-to-ceiling in the Pavilion, townhouses, and courthouses, double bed and begin just above the floor in the East and West Towers. Jörn Schiemann
The townhouses are identical, two-story bars arranged perpendicular and parallel to each other. double bed Viewed from above, the configuration reads as rigid and regularized. From within the cluster of townhouses and courthouses, however, the rectilinear geometry is softened by greenery and obstructed views. Play areas, communal lawns, and parking lots fill the interstitial spaces between the bars, whose relatively small scale creates an intimate residential setting. The vastness of the complex is nearly imperceptible from the townhouse lawns, with the towers just visible through a screen double bed of trees. David Schalliol
Mies placed the kitchen and living areas on the first level of each townhouse, with the bedrooms located above. In some instances, double bed the upper level of a unit is offset from the level below, allowing for a variety of bedroom configurations. The expansive glazing at the front and rear facades allows ample natural light during the day. Constructed during an era of highway building in a city devoted to the automobile, Lafayette Park was certainly designed with the car in mind. Rather than prominently exhibiting the parking lots between townhouses, the design team placed the parking several feet below grade. As a result, the cars cede to the landscape and the architecture. James Griffioen
Though Lafayette Park is widely regarded as a successful example of urban renewal, the development exposes the duality of the approach. The effort began with the demolition of Black Bottom, a working-class district considered a slum by the municipality. As Lafayette Park was designed to house middle-income residents, many former occupants of Black Bottom relocated to the nearby Brewster-Douglass and Jeffries Housing Projects. While Lafayette Park continues to offer desirable housing, the projects intended to house former Black Bottom residents no longer exist. Jamie Schafer

I'm not sure about XP or Outlook. ___Budući That Windows user, I was pretty much shafted Apple from the beginning, seeing as "syncability" the iPod has never been as good a PC by spektra.Gledajući my contacts on my iPod, there's always that little "avatar placeholder" that bothers me. Allen & Heat Xone 42
Xone 42 is equipped with four dual-input stereo channels with phono and line-level inputs. All four channels have 3-band EQ, 9-segment indicator with three colors, 60mmVCA e-fader with X / Y crossfader selection and has incorporated new "X-FX" system that allows external effects day bed to be added in the signaling protocol. The biggest news is the built-in USB audio interface to connect to a computer without any loss of quality in the process of D / A conversion. Those who are accustomed to the hi-tech might be disappointed but at "42-ojke" with its somewhat traditional design is seen to come from Allen & Heat cuisine.
Originally appeared on the market in gray, later made a makeover as well as other models, and is now available in dark gray so. "Graffiti" version day bed crafted with elegant lighting and is visually very pleasing, especially in a club setting. Although at first glance it does not work, it is a very robust mixer. Caps on EQ are rubberized and smooth, while the fader plastic as usual and standard, with the original packaging and complete backup, which is a good option in case of excessive "play". On the rear panel there are four dual-input stereo channels, channels 1 and 4 are phono / line, while the 2:03 line / line. All four channels have a powerful 6 dB to total kill 3-band EQ, tri-color bar meter, gain control, and 60mm VCA fader with illuminated X / Y crossfader choice. day bed Fader are soft and pleasant to work especially crossfader (especially for those who prefer to scratch mix). In addition, there is the XLR out, line-in booth, record OUT TRS EFX send / return, and the IN and OUT USB audio, and ON / OFF button. The overall impression is that the mixer "user frendly" with a little resentful at the master volume and booth volume which are adjacent to each other and are the same size as when the work could potentially lead to confusion. Incorporated the "X-FX 'system day bed allows external effects to be added to the signaling protocol and can be combined with the legendary Allen & Heat VCF filters.
Xone 42 includes a USB audio interface for easy connection day bed to a computer and integration of digital media that can be used to play music files from a laptop and recording mixes, or with the appropriate software, as a DJ effects unit suffixed to the X-FX system. USB port is combined with XLR microphone input and provides an additional channel with 2-band EQ. In the end, what is characteristic of every Allen & Heat models including the Xone 42 is sound. With all these features, the sound that gives this mixer is perfect whether you're day bed at home or you're in the club. For those who prefer a lot of effects Xone 42 certainly will not be the first choice, but with VCF filters that work perfectly with a little imagination can achieve a lot of effects when mixing.

United Fumadors Korg MS-20
This control is selected octave. Each halving the number one octave higher. For example, 4 '(rate) of the octave of 8', 16 'is an octave higher than 8, VCO1 a range of 32' to 4 ', the VCO 16 from 2' to 2 '. Waveform
It selects the waveform that determines the basic color tone (timbre). VCO1 has four triangular wave, sawtooth, pulse and noise. VCO "has three waveforms: sawtooth, square, pulse (10%), plus a setting for ring modulation. Each wave has its own distinctive sound.
Triangular indiska wave - very basic waveform that has only a few aliquot tones and has a mild, rounded tone color. Great for flute, vibraphone and similar instruments. The triangular wave can be converted into a sinusoidal wave (which has no aliquot tones) using the Low Pass Filter (Low Pass Filter).
Sawtooth wave - waveform rich in overtones, and one of the most useful for those involved in the synthesis of sound. It is used for strings, indiska brass wind instruments, voice and other sounds rich overtones. Voltage-controlled filter (VCF) is a wave with saw particularly effective.
The rectangular wave - changing the waveform that has a different timbre depending on the width of its peak (pulse width). When the top and bottom is equal, the waveform is called a square wave and a "hollow" character of the instruments used mouthpiece (eg clarinet). As the pulse width decreases proportionally, changing indiska the color and tone: the sound becomes "nasal". This wave is called the pulse wave. MS-20 is controlled by changing the width of the wave PW.
White noise - atonal sound that consists of all the frequencies of the same rank. Used to winds, waves, gunshots, percussion and similar effects. Using a filter frequencies can amplify and reduce other creating a wide variety of sound effects.
Square wave variation rectangular wave in which the top and bottom equal. "Hollow" sound that contains only odd overtones. indiska It is used to simulate the instrument with a single beep sounds, and other closed-pipe.
Pulse wave - this rectangular waveform indiska having a relatively narrow width of the peak and is characterized by a "nasal" sound colors and strong presence of senior aliquot tones. It is used to simulate the double-reed instruments (oboe, trumpet, bagpipes ...) and some of the instruments that create sound twitching wires (eg cymbals and clavinet).
Ring Modulator - This setting combines the sounds of both VCO's in such a way that creates the sum and difference of the present aliquot tones. The result is a loud, "metal" tone that is useful for gongs, bells and various similar effects. The resulting sound act both as a control Scale and Pitch Control and PW and to provide the desired effect must be used judiciously.
This control changes the tone of VCO-2 in the range of one octave. Intonation VCO-2 can tune in to one of VCOa one or adjust in some interval (eg, third, fifth, etc.). Once set the tone, thanks to Korg's technology, it remains extremely stable through a full range of playing. PW
This control changes the width of the rectangular indiska pulse wave (PW) VCO's first To "0" waveform is symmetrical (ie square wave). indiska As you turn the pot to the right pulse width is increased correspondingly. Sometime around the end of the pulse becomes so narrow that virtually indiska disappears, so that the sound can not be heard.
Adjusts the "slip" indiska ... time that MS-20 is to be transferred from one note to another note. The ability of liquid indiska transition between notes is characteristic regret having only monophonic synthesizers and another indiska more creative effect.
If the board does not have cable in the socket FREQ this control adjusts the volume for generator envelope 1 the second VCO Lift Control and Play the note on the keyboard. Notice how the intonation of notes up and down in line with the envelope curve (see Envelope Generator 1). If the outlet is connected to an external FREQ control (eg reel modulation envelope upside down, etc.) control then changes indiska the intensity of action and control. VCO Mixer
Dedicated controls the output level of the VCO 1 and VCO 2 allow the user to freely adjust the volume balance of the two oscillators or to expel both oscillators when processed by an external signal. Voltage-controlled indiska high-pass filter (VCHPF)
He throws the aliquot part of the tones that are present in the waveforms which was chosen as part of the oscillators. Cutoff frequency can be adjusted from low areas up. Cutoff frequency set then cutoff frequency or some external control voltages. Citoff Frequency
scale in this pot goes from 0 to 10, but is in position 0 filter is fully open and the basic color tone waveform does not change. As you turn the pot, the color tone becomes lighter, Play the note on the keyboard, turn the pot and listen to the effect of the Peak
This pot is determined by the strength of emphasis over the area just below the cutoff frequency, which is then placed above. When is around the maximum, the filter begins to oscillate and I actually

All four oscillators (LFO1, LFO2, VCO1 and Vo2 curve) have the same set of parameters for intonatio

United Fumadors U-he ACE
At first glance, the structure of ACE resembles the structure office chairs of simple synthesizer from the late seventies and early eighties - a structure office chairs that is then adopted by the first generation of "virtual analog" hardware synthesizer nineties. Whenever you open a new instance of ACE boards a basic patch without any cables. Pre-connected signal path is as follows:
Oscillator 1, suboscilator, oscillator 2 and the noise generator are mixed in a mixer and from there the signal is sent to the first filter This filter is connected to the amplifier 1, the same time, ie, in parallel, the oscillator 2 is sent to the filter 2 and then to the second amplifier.
LFO 1 is by default used for modulation of intonation, office chairs ie vibrato for both oscillators and intensity vibrato is controlled reel modulation (MIDI CC # 1). LFO 2 is connected to the inputs of the pulse width modulation of the main oscillator, and the cutoff frequency of both filters.
Always keep in mind that these are just the basic connections - they can be replaced by any signal that you want by simply inserting cables. office chairs Also, remember that the one way you can have multiple cables connected simultaneously, but only one cable is connected to an input.
If you just need to compare the ACE with a classic modular synthesizer (or three of them), office chairs imagine him as fabricated ARP 2600 that uses modules with Roland SH-7 is having the flexibility to connect as one EMS VCS3 / Synth And - but that is polyphonic. Just like the ARP 2600, ACE is connected in advance so it can work "straight office chairs out of the box", but all of these default connections can bypass the use of cables. Roland SH-7, as well as the ACE, and a second filter, and an additional envelope generator. However, many modules in ACE're made with the intention to perform very different or unusual tasks. For example, a ramp generator can be used as an LFO module as multiple ring modulator and LFO 1 as waveshaper. office chairs Operation office chairs Settings synthesizer
Mode determines the polyphony ii basic interpretation of MIDI notes. Poly - polyphonic work (both can play multiple notes) Retrigger - mono operation, the notes can always trigger, even when they overlap. Legato - mono operation, note the trigger if I can dismiss all currently been performed notes. Duophonic - 1 VCO, VCF, and LFO 1 1 respond to a lower note, while two VCO, VCF, and LFO 2 2 react to a higher note.
Few and medium settings can reduce the load on the CPU, especially when sounds with relatively long release times of the envelope. Be careful stacking office chairs (see below) uses multiple voices at once, and therefore reduces the polyphony. office chairs
Quality switch is also used to reduce the load of the CPU. Depending on the speed or the amount of modulation distortion filters, the quality can be reduced office chairs to a standard or even draft a noticeable difference in quality. Of course, you can decide in accordance office chairs with how the patch will be used - sometimes it will be good for the low notes, but less than optimal as you climb up the keyboard.
Stack parameter specifies the number of votes per note. On the "pile" can set up 8 votes and TDA get very powerful unison effect, office chairs as some classic polyphonic office chairs synthesizer, Oberheim office chairs eg OBXa. Depending on the modality and the amount of stack parameters, office chairs ACE still can play and poly. Remember that this is not "supersaw oscillator", it is the actual unison: full voice (all oscillators, filters, etc..) Are multiplied. Of course this kind of thing quite a lot of CPU power, but it is our opinion that it's worth it. For example, the distortion of the filter on one note is much "livelier" than it can make one filter. office chairs At Tweak page to a maximum of 8 votes raštimati can range from + / - 24 halftone.
Pot glide controlled or time "slip" or his speed, depending on the state of the switch glide mode. In this setting, the slide from one note to another at an interval of one or halftone eg 6 octaves will take the same time, while in postavkr rate, it will depend on how the notes apart.
Range - With classic polyphonic Sint, Polyphonic portamento are seldom used except for special effects. The ACE-in, the parameter range can be used to move the starting position (where the glide begins) closer to the target note. So you can glide start eg "but a half times." Tip: To get the effect of natural intonation, set the range to a very small value.
Especially with synthesizers that allow modulation of the audio speeds, the oscilloscope is an invaluable aid for programming sounds. Make sure that the display is not synchronized notes played, as well as the zero-crossing (from negative to positive) and whenever you complete a longer scan.
All four oscillators (LFO1, LFO2, VCO1 and Vo2 curve) have the same set of parameters for intonation - pot for coarse tuning, fine tuning of the pot and the pot for modulation. Each of them had his switch to select modes of operation.
Pot for coarse tuning (left top) of each oscillator has a range of 0.00 to 24, and the modalities of operation are as follows: Semi - to 24 Halftone above the current intonation. P
