The International Festival of Music Spring of Prague (Pražské tempur jaro) is held in Prague every year for three weeks from May 12 (anniversary of the death of the composer Bedrich Smetana) since 1946. One of its founders was the legendary leader Czech conductor Rafael Kubelík. It brings together soloists, symphony and chamber tempur orchestras from around the world for concerts at the prestigious tempur Rudolfinum concert hall in the Municipal House, the Prague National Theatre in Prague and other places.
The name of the festival was the inspiration for the political science term "Prague Spring" characterizing the attempt to liberalize Czechoslovakia leading to the events of 1968. The Spring of Prague logo was designed by the artist František Muzika (1900- 1974) and is part of the prestigious selection of icons of the 20th century Czech design.
In 2013, the festival program was pride to French music, with, among others, the Concerto for Organ and Francis Poulenc's Gloria, Cello Concerto No. 1 and Symphony in C minor "Organ" Camille Saint-Saëns, Bolero, Mother Goose, Gypsy and noble and sentimental waltz Maurice Ravel, the Symphonie fantastique and Roman Carnival Hector Berlioz, Sport and Entertainment from Erik Satie, Drift 1 Pierre Boulez Chamber Concerto No. 1 ... Bruno Mantovani, and with the participation of the violinist Renaud Capuçon, pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière, the conductor Jean-Claude Casadesus, the Ensemble Intercontemporain , the Radio France Choir and many others. Moreover - rare exception - in 2013, a non-Czech orchestra inaugurated the festival with the cycle of symphonic poems My Country by Bedřich Smetana, as is the tradition it was the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, under the Peter Oundjian.
The PRAGUE SPRING 2014 will offer 51 concerts in 17 praguoises rooms. In 2014, the most illustrious representative of the French music scene is all that Les Arts Florissants and return to Prague Spring after 19 years. French presence at the Spring Festival in Prague: historical overview The French musical tradition tempur has always had a strong presence at the Prague Spring.
