Urban Ecology is the great challenge of this century, for about 80% of the population lives in large cities, where the environment is increasingly neglected. In order to reestablish the integration between the people and the nature is born the project 'Urban poliform Green Thumb'.
Formatted to stimulate environmental awareness, the first phase of the initiative will be the launch of a DVD that teaches you step by step all the stages of growing a garden of spices in apartments.
The intention is to sensitize the common citizen, who believes to live in large cities need to divorce poliform the nature and does not see the harm in their everyday attitudes bring to himself. "We showed for this discredited citizen even in small areas, in an apartment, for example, you can have a small garden of spices. But you have to have dedication and technique to succeed, "says Hélio Lemos, founder of Urban Project Green Thumb.

Ambitious, the ultimate goal of the project is to promote multimedia, long-term, ecological poliform literacy of the population. According to Lemos, the urban crisis is becoming more intense and can only be successfully addressed within a design aimed at the integration of the city to the natural environment and not divorce.

For the near future, proposals are complementary actions to green the large Brazilian cities, such as: "Plant Census," poliform which will invite each of the villagers to map the green areas near their homes to raise the status of the green coverage of 10 major cities the country, action in conjunction with the Portal www.dedoverdeurbano.com.br; the development of a website, a blog and content for social networks poliform in line with the ideals of the project; and the production of a TV series about people who developed the Green Thumb City and how their actions transform not only their lives, but the surrounding environment.
"Contact with the green, with nature increases their perception of life," says Lemos, stressing that through the act of caring for a simple plant pot, man can rediscover its essence. "I believe that the project Urban Green Thumb will be an important catalyst agent in the transformation of our cities better places to live," poliform concludes Lemos.
